Self Care ________________________________________ Cooking for myself, even when I’m the only one home, is one of the ways I best practice self care. It’s so much easier to just live on toast or some similar low-effort thing when it’s just me alone and I feel like hot garbage. Sometimes I do that, I don’t make the effort, but the fact is that nourishing food really makes a difference in how I feel. _ This dish wasn’t very time consuming to make. I threw radish, snap peas and fennel into the oven with evoo, course salt and dried thyme; seared a salt and peppered duck breast in a skillet till golden; and threw together water cress and pea sprouts with a honey apple cider vinaigrette (easy on the ACV). _ Yeah, it’s kind of seasonal and fancy and maybe a tiny bit unusual for a lunchtime meal eaten alone, but dammit... if we can’t be good to ourselves, what makes us think we will have anything to offer anyone else? _ I’ve been having a rough go lately. Biopsy on my preexisting #bcc scar, lots of headaches and allergy symptoms and neurological issues like essential tremor and visual static thanks to #mcas. And back pain and hips that keep snapping stuck out of joint from the inflammation. I’ve got a lot to do and it’s hard to do it with hands and eyes that won’t fully work. But I took a break, took some Benadryl and made this meal to take care of myself. Today I’m taking care of myself. That might mean I’ll be offline a lot more in the coming weeks. Don’t worry, I’ll be back. In the meantime I hope you’re practicing your own self care. Cheers for reading if you got this far. If you did, drop me a comment below about how you best take care of yourself. 👇👇👇 I’d love to hear. 💚 ________________________________________ #pegan #seasonaleating #eattherainbow #moreveggiesthanavegetarian #plantsplease #mcas #healingdiet #guthealth #positivenutrition #diversediet #antiinflammatorydiet #springfood #guthealth #dietdiversity #eatvariety #eatwell #selfcare #lowhistamine #lowhistaminediet #mcashealth #eatyourgreens #plantbasedpaleo #paleo #drhyman #wahlsprotocol #drjoneja #enzymes #vitaminsandminerals
